Pregnant Mom
Emily's mother is pregnant. There is going to be a brother or a sister, and the season ends with the family about to change shape.
Dear Diary, what I found out today?! My mom is pregnant! I will have a little brother or sister! I am so excited! I could have noticed it earlier but it is hard to observe when you are madly in love. Now, mom is busy getting ready for the newborn. She is planning to renovate the guest room for the baby. She is so tied up that she does not even mind when I get home later. I am glad to have Kevin beside me, I would feel lonely without him.

Emily admits she should have noticed sooner — it is hard to observe anything, she writes, when you are madly in love. Her mother is busy planning the nursery and has stopped minding when Emily comes home late. The game is about her mother, not about Emily, for once.
Soon Emily’s going to have a little sister. Emily’s mother is pregnant! She looks so beautiful and happy that Emily can’t stop smiling.
The last line of the season is that she is glad to have Kevin, and would feel lonely without him. Season two picks up from there.
